Main Aims / Objectives
Support agencies and coastal mangers in their monitoring of inter-tidal flats.

Main Services

Surface type classification and change detection tailored specifically for the inter-tidal flats.

The service is based on multi-sensor observations ranging from SAR (e.g. TerraSAR-X) to optical sensors (e.g. SPOT and RapidEye).

The ecosystems of inter-tidal flats have to be monitored according to European and international regulations (EU Water Framework Directive, Natura 2000, UN RAMSAR convention).

This activity is demonstrating the transfer of a methodology developed in the Wadden Sea to a new coastal area in Portugal.
