Main Aims / Objectives
Improve on existing phenology (seasonal vegetation) information by providing a new product to governmental agencies & NGOs involved in vegetation, ecosystem and climate change impact monitoring.

Main Services

The main service is based on ENVISAT MERIS Terrestrial Chlorophyll Index (MTCI) and Leaf Area Index (LAI). The final service is producing time series of interpolated daily MTCI at 300 m resolution from 2004 to the present for all of Great Britain and parts of South-West Europe.

These maps make use of MERIS full-resolution data and distributed computing technology - GRID Processing On-Demand (G-POD). For specific locations the maps are being used (via modelling) to produce local phenology (seasonal) curves.

InfoTerra Ltd is focusing on the exploitation of the (GPOD) technology for routine monitoring using Chlorophyll and LAI products derived from time series of full-resolution MERIS data. University of Southampton and INRA are providing specialist expertise on MERIS chlorophyll and extraction of biophysical parameters from EO optical imagery.
